Presidential Contenders: Will they listen?

Laurie Higgins makes a heartbreaking appeal in her most recent article published by Illinois Family Action.  She is appealing to Presidential hopefuls.  She writes, "The campaign is up and running, and there’s nothing that the liberal press salivates over more than asking conservative presidential contenders what they think about all things homosexual—especially homosexual 'mirage' (to borrow Pastor Doug Wilson’s term) or 'pseudogamy' (to borrow Professor Anthony Esolen’s term)."
I say it is heartbreaking because I don't have any hope that any politician will speak the unvarnished truth about all things "gay."

Laurie goes on, "Most conservative politicians respond with nervous, evasive, self-conscious, and intellectually unsatisfying answers. The reasons for their awkward and ineffective responses likely range from ignorance to fear to absence of genuine conviction."

I'll go with absence of conviction to which Laurie responds, "Any man or woman who claims to be conservative but fails to care about or understand the essential place true marriage occupies in culture or the implications of homo-marriage needs to go away and make themselves useful in another occupation."

I put the blame for this political mess squarely at the feet of Christianity in the West.  Over a long period of time Christianity adopted an infantile and pathetic stance toward sexual immorality instead of becoming child-like.

While very young children may not know better (due to mental development) they DO better with a mom and dad.  Culture always does better when it sees through creation to the creator, who is the eternal Father.  The innocence and purity that is natural in a child draws the creator out of his creation.  The violation of this innocence is a very serious matter.

Paul wrote brilliantly about this:

Romans 1:18-23 The Message
"But God’s angry displeasure erupts as acts of human mistrust and wrongdoing and lying accumulate, as people try to put a shroud over truth. But the basic reality of God is plain enough. Open your eyes and there it is! By taking a long and thoughtful look at what God has created, people have always been able to see what their eyes as such can’t see: eternal power, for instance, and the mystery of his divine being. So nobody has a good excuse. What happened was this: People knew God perfectly well, but when they didn’t treat him like God, refusing to worship him, they trivialized themselves into silliness and confusion so that there was neither sense nor direction left in their lives. They pretended to know it all, but were illiterate regarding life. They traded the glory of God who holds the whole world in his hands for cheap figurines you can buy at any roadside stand."

Hats off to Laurie for another excellent article musing on the "gay" juggernaught.
